- In December 2008 Loram will ship the new C21 80-Stone Rail Grinder to Queensland Rail (QR) in Australia.
- The increasing axle loads and tonnage experienced by QR over the past decade drove their decision to adopt a new high production rail grinding strategy. For the first time in Australia, single-pass preventive grinding will be possible at speeds in excess of 15km/hr. The C21 80-stone Rail Grinder represents the latest in rail grinding technology, which incorporates technologies to maximize productivity, reliability and finished quality.
- QR's new preventive rail grinding strategy will extensively utilize a new Loram Rail Inspection Vehicle (RIV) outfitted with Loram's Grind Data Management System (GDMS). GDMS serves not only as tool for quality control tool, but also a tool for grind planning.
